Rebecca has been on the vocal faculty of Sheridan College’s Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre in Performance program for 15 years. While at the college she has filled many roles including sitting for auditions, graduating juries and teaching Music Theatre Performance in the preparatory program, however, her happy place is working one-on-one with students in tutorials to ensure a full working knowledge of their voices and vocal technique. Her students have gone on to exciting careers, working at The Stratford Festival, The Shaw Festival, on Broadway, national tours and on America’s Got Talent.
Her studies in vocal pedagogy began in Los Angeles where she studied for 6 months with Seth Riggs, the pioneer in speech level singing. She attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston in the Vocal Pedagogy Professional Workshop where she worked with the creator of Bel Canto Can Belto Mary Saunders Barton (co-author of Cross Training in the Voice Studio) and with Sheri Sanders author of Rock the Audition.
She attended the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute of Shenandoah University to study functional vocal training with founder Matt Edwards – one of the leading voice teachers in the United States. Most recently Rebecca completed her teacher training with Maddie Tarbox, mechanics of mix and belt and vocal function 101 studying in depth anatomy and vocal function.
